Fresh off my Japan Winter Workshop I am filled with excitement and exhaustion! It was a wonder-filled fortnight shooting in the snow-covered landscapes of Japan, from the sights of Mt. Fuji, to the cutest monkeys you've ever seen and to the surreal environment in Hokkaido. My hands were frozen, my head was dizzying, and my alarm was set for times I usually go to sleep, but it was worth every minute! Travelling in a group hosted by professional photographers, and surrounded by like-minded people made the time fly by. I gained new friends, pushed my limits, and was taken to some sublime places I would never have found myself, at least not in such a short period of time.

After the workshop finished, a few of us went to the Yayoi Kusama Museum in Tokyo where a quote from the artist graced the walls, "Art is a solitary pursuit". It had us thinking for the rest of the night; ultimately we concluded that while one's own art is often very individual, fraught with internal dialogue and debate, the act of creating art is rarely solitary. It is usually combined with love from others, the passions, inspirations, support and encouragement of others. And on this workshop, I must say I wholeheartedly agree.
I have remained in Tokyo after the rest of the group trickled away, and I feel left in a lull, with a passion for further adventures stocking my embers. Preparations for the next Japan Winter Workshop are already underway, but I have been keeping my eyes open for any other exciting opportunities to experience something similar, and this is when Martin Bisof whispered into my ear "Czechia in Spring".
Martin Bisof is a mist chaser and a dream catcher, and Aperture Tours' very own Prague resident photographer. He has been searching Prague, Czechia and the world for the perfect landscape; from the depths of the rainforests of the Amazon to the chilly peaks of the Himalayas. His connection with travel agents and magazines has helped fund his thirst for travel photography. As an award-winning international photographer appearing in numerous publications worldwide, Martin insists that through his travels throughout the world, there is no place more spectacular than the Czech Republic, and he is willing to put that to the test by organising a week-long adventure through the Land of the Bohemian Crown.
Located in the very heart of Europe lies the Czech Republic, or as they recently rebranded themselves to the more manageable Czechia. With its fairytale-like castles, historic towns, and picturesque landscapes, it offers endless opportunities for photographers. Drenched in history and gifted with beautiful and luxurious natural landscape this small but fascinating country is a perfect place to spend up to ten unforgettable days where you can hone in on your photographic skills all the while experiencing all the magic the nation has to offer.
It honestly sounds like a captivating experience, and then he showed me some photos. Well, I think I might just let a few of them speak for themselves.
Through all of the cities across Europe, Prague must be one of the most fairytale pretty places of them all. And I've been shooting in every Aperture Tour destination city and some, so I mean it when I say that. But to have the opportunity to have Martin's insight into the best places to shoot, and the most interesting angles from a dedicated photographer, that is just next level.
And the capital is just the start of it. Flowing through the surreal panoramas of the Moravian Tuscany landscapes and then discovering the jewel in the crown of the country, the UNESCO listed Cesky Krumlov, it looks fantastic. That look will be the combined effort of not only shooting the right spot, at the right time, with the right light, but also the careful diligence spent in the editing room. Martin will step up here to share with you some of his skills and processes in his digital workflow to make sure that your images pop and stop people in their tracks.
So if you have the lust for travel, fine photography and great company I could not recommend Martin's Czechia Spring Workshop more. Running from 12 - 19 April 2018, early bird tickets (until the end of the month) go for € 2,500 and bookings can be made directly through Aperture tours. Take a look at the Czechia Spring Workshop page for full details.
